We've taken both Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Carnival has very nice suites with balconies. They've recently updated the rooms and we found them to be spacious and very nicely decorated in a contemporary style. Unfortunately, we found the food and dining room service to be a step down from Royal Caribbean. Service was very slow (understaffed) , noisey, and food just ok. If you decide to cruise Carnival, book a balcony suite but keep expectations lower in the dining room.
