This ship was elderly by cruise standards but there was no reason for the filthy conditions. Our bathroom smelled of urine and the shower curtain reeked of old cigarette smoke, the carpet smelled like bologna (no kidding) ! The crew in the lunch and breakfast cafes were either lazy or understaffed because it took an act of congress to get anyone to clear tables and then once they did they didn't wipe tables or clean disgusting ashtrays. We wonder why the cruise industry doesn't designate very specific areas for smokers so they can all suffocate one another instead of the rest of us or perhaps even have smoke free cruises?? I realize that Carnival once set the standards for the cruise industry but after this experience its easy to see why they are losing profits recently. I do not blame the employees as much as the management. We had booked a cruise on one of their newer and larger ships for spring break but immediately came home and changed our booking to a better cruise line. Carnival needs to step it up if they want to continue to operate. No matter how cheap they make it ...its still no bargain. We definitely got less than what we paid for and I would not recommend them to anyone. Now I know to never make that mistake again!!!
We would never cruise Carnival again !
Traveled As: Family (older children)
Pros: Our cabin steward was great and the people we met were priceless.
Cons: The ship was dirty and sometimes we would sit for an entire hour before someone cleared the table of old plates, etc.
