This was our second time cruising with Carnival. I am not sure if Carnival has lowered its standards or if it was just the Fascination, but this trip was not as memorable as the first time. The dining room waiters were adequate but they provided the necessary service and did not go the extra mile. They lacked the personallity to entertain you. Last time we cruised with Carnival the dining room entertainment was exciting. You never knew what they would create out of the dinner napkin or what kind of flaming dessert they would come out with. The cabin steward was there. We only saw him once when he introduced himself. It was nice to see that he was in and out of your room without us even knowing he was aboard. But again, we did not find any unexpected pleasant suprises in the evening when you returned to your room. They made the beds and left fresh towels. No extra pizazz to make it interesting. The sail and sign card is a nice feature, but I do feel with the gratuities automatically charged to your account that it does not require staff to provide any extras. Food was plentiful and tasty. Not a lot of variety. Jacuzzi hours were short. Found them roped off at times during hours that they were to be open or adult-only Jacuzzi filled with children.In-room movies were the same throughout the cruise. Noticed a strong musty / sewer backup smell on lower decks.Customer Service was good but definitelyan opportunity for improvement.Would be more than willing to give Carnival another try. Overall, a good value.
