4 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)
Sail Date: May 29, 2006
Ship: Carnival Fascination
Cabin Type: Oceanview
Traveled As: Family (older children)

With just a little bit of care and investment in the decor, service, food and entertainment this 4-day cruise can go from below average to good. This was my first cruise and I chose this one specifically for the short number of days and the price. For the price, it was fair. Would I cruise again? No, not on Carnival or any other cruise line if this is typical.

Food and Dining

Overall quality of the food, the variety and specialty items were poor. But the convenience of the dining times were good.

Service and Staff

The only fun friendly staff were the entertainment/activity staff. It seemed most of the staff did not speak English and if they did speak the language they didn't assist or have the information or know where to find out nor were they willing to.

Ship Quality

The ship could use an overhaul. In the public areas the decor is outdated and tacky. The public restrooms were clean although hard to find.

Cabin / Stateroom

I was located in a great area of the ship,- at the very end, but the stateroom was in poor condition. The furniture was chipped and cracked, there were not enough electrical outlets and the television is old and remote barely worked. The only good item in the stateroom was the comfort bedding. The size of the room was fine.

Key West is a party town and arriving at 7:00am only to leave at 2:00pm just doesn't make sense, can't even see the sunset - a highlight of Key West's Mallory Square. With that in mind the best sites are the Mel Fisher Museum, Southernmost Point and Hemingway House.

Not much to see or do on this hurricane ravaged island.
Don't Miss: The ATV Jungle Tour was a lot of fun.
