Nice cruise, bad ship!

Sail Date: March 02, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

I was under the understanding that the Fascination had been updated, although many parts are not. The rooms have the new flat screen TV's and comfy down comforters, and the showers are the most spacious out of any cruise I have been on before (Royal Caribbean, Princess). With the exception of a new coffee bar, the ship mostly looks outdated and old. The pool has not received an update yet, and was very small and the whole pool deck needs updating. The worst part of this ship was the smell, certain areas all throughout the ship smelled like sewage, especially our hallway on the Upper deck. The parts that did not smell like sewage just smelled like they needed to be aired out as they were musky smelling.

Pros: Atlantis, Service

Cons: The Stinky Boat

Recommends Carnival Fascination? No.

Ship Quality
This is the smallest ship I have traveled on, but the inside cabin we booked had plenty of room and comfortable beds. Decor is outdated and fabric in lounges needs updating.
Food and Dining
Food was great! Service was also very good.
Cabin / Stateroom
Size of cabin was sufficient. The shower was the best cruise ship shower I've had...lost of room and a pull down shower head.
Service and Staff
Staff was very pleasant, helpful, and efficient.
Entertainment
Lots of things to do throughout the ship. The shows were very entertaining.
Key West, Florida
We just walked around Key West, and walked to the southernmost point. The city is beautiful and offers lots of shops and restaurants.
Nassau, Bahamas
We took the atlantis beach tour, it was great. I wouldnt have felt safe walking around downtown nassau.
Don't Miss: Atlantis is beautiful! Absolutely pristine beaches, although you have to pay more to use their pools and waterpark..it would be worth the upgrade price especially if you have kids.
