A Fascinating Cruise

Sail Date: December 04, 2006

Reviewed: 10 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

The Fascination is one of the older ships in the Carnival line but you would never know it to look at it. We cruised in December and it was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Everything sparkling clean. At the second main seating for dinner we met some new friends and our staff was added enjoyment with excellent service. There was so much fun stuff to do on board as well as for the excursions when we docked and all the information was timely and written clearly to make it easy to understand. Arrangements were simple to make also. It took my husband 17 1/2 years to finally agree to a cruise but the next one won't take but a minute I'm sure! We had a wonderful time! Looking forward to our next cruise already.

Pros: our room with the big window looking out over the ocean

Cons: the automatic gratuities added to all photos

Recommends Carnival Fascination? Yes!

Ship Quality
One of the public restrooms was not as clean as it should have been.
Food and Dining
The variety was astounding and the quality top grade.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a large window facing outward and enjoyed our view the whole time.
The sleeping area was spotless as well as the bathroom and every time we were out it was straightened by the time we returned.
Service and Staff
The staff appeared like genies!
The first night there was a man introduced as a "comedian" who never got around to any jokes. The other nights the shows were fabulous, colorful productions with really great talent.
Key West, Florida
We were looking for a famous restaurant called Michael's but it did not open til dinnertime. Not in port that long. Sandal Factory was a big hit with top brand sandals at REAL outlet prices. Southernmost point of the United States is a good place for a picture.
Don't Miss: Michael's Restaurant -- best steaks in the world
Calica, Mexico
The best shopping area is 2 blocks off the main street and runs for a few blocks. Many interesting shops.
Don't Miss: If you are a beginner or experienced, you will enjoy riding a horse in the sea -- one of the excursions.
