This is an older ship and a short, entry-level cruise aimed at first-time and budget-conscious cruisers. A longer itinerary on a newer ship will usually be a better experience. I’m not sure what you did and Costa Maya, but it is one of our favorite ports. There are lots of great things to do they are both in and out of the port. Outside the port are Mayan Ruins tours, the Bacalar Lagoon, nice beach clubs, water park with zip lines, snorkeling, catamaran sails, etc. Inside the port are Dolphin Swims, an Aviary, free cultural shows, free pool with swim-up bar, restaurants, bars, shops, etc.

Amazing time

OMG....this was our very first cruise...and now we are hooked!!! Pauley the cruise director was A-MAZING!!! We have already booked another cruise with Carnival for May. Carnival cruises sure know how to treat their guests!!!
