Great family vacation!

Sail Date: April 02, 2015

Room Type: Inside

We enjoyed this cruise with our 13 & 18 year old.  It was possibly the best family vacation we have  been on as a family.  The cruise offered something for everyone to enjoy.  The food options were perfect as each could choose to their liking.  There were plenty of activities on board to enjoy as well as time to relax and lie in the sun.  A family favorite was the punchliners comedy club which featured two "family friendly" comedians that had us in stitches.  We enjoyed the Freeport day where we had booked a snorkeling & sunbathing excursion.  The snorkeling is amazing; it is like you are in an aquarium with crystal clear water and colorful fish.  Nassau has many places to shop and more places to site see, but with 4 other cruise ships in port that day it was a very busy place.  There is a public beach only a 15 min. walk from the ship that is very nice (Junkanoo Beach.)  The service on the ship was top notch.  Our porter learned our names the first day and greeted us by name the rest of the cruise.  The servers in the dining room always treated us like royalty.  It was the perfect vacation for our family.

They are small, but if you have that in mind before you get there it is not such a shock. The 4 of us managed fine in one room. It takes a little negotiating, but keep in mind that not much of your time is spent in the room. The porter takes care of your beds and towels twice a day.
Charleston, South Carolina
Very easy to get to, and well organized. We parked in their secure parking lot and had people + signs to guide us where we needed to go until we were all the way on the ship. No confusion at all. Cars are parked in large warehouses; we felt our vehicle was very safe.
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
This is not a pretty port as the ship docks at an industrial port. However, there are a lot of little shops right when you get off the ship that are very nice and fun to look at. This is a good port for an excursion as there is not much you can do within range of the ship.
Nassau, Bahamas
Lots you can do within walking distance of the ship: shopping, the water tower, the Queen's staircase and Junkanoo beach. However, it is a popular port and there will be more tourists about than just your ship.

Tip

Bring a power strip as there is only one outlet for use in the staterooms. The evening shows (comedy and musical) are repeated on the 5 day cruise so you don't have to miss one to see the other.
