My family was happy to be able to board the ship in Charleston, SC, which is very convenient to our home in NC. However, the ship activities were usually boring and the attempts to sell us things 24-7 were oppressive. The food was acceptable, but nothing special.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Breakfast and lunch buffets were just OK. Dinners in the dining room were good, not great.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Not many interesting activities. Many "activities" were just excuses to sell junk. The singing/dancing shows had talented performers, but the costumes, wigs, and plots were hideous. There were only 2 shows, which made for some boring nights.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very good!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The staff did a good job with cleaning and upkeep.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was comfortable and the staff tidied it up twice a day. However, it was difficult to figure out how to work light switches, drains, temperature controls, wake-up calls, etc.

Pros: The rooms were nice, convenient departure port

Cons: Not many fun activities on the ship; food was so-so

Recommends Carnival Fantasy? No.
