Carnival Fantasy from Charleston SC

Sail Date: December 19, 2011

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Inside

The ship was old, dirty, and dusty. We cleaned above the bunk bed and found 2 bookmarks and a child's toy. Again the staff was rude and discourteous. Buffets were closed by 9pm with only ice cream, pizza, or sandwiches available. I have curised several times with Carnival and up to now would have proudly recommended them. I would only recommend this curise if you have children. Camp Carnival was the best part of this curise.

Pros: Camp Carnival was wonderful! The children woke up every morning ready to go. They opened at 10 and I think they could open earlier arround 8 or 830. The lobster was wonderful!

Cons: No midnight seafood buffet with ice sculptures and decorations. I took first time curisers who were anticipating this. The dining crew was outright rude and disrespectful. NCL docked next to us in Nassau, they had hot chocolate and coffee for their passengers as they disembarked and reembarked.

Recommends Carnival Fantasy? No.

Food and Dining
Food was average. The melting chocolate cake was awesome! We arrived to the dinniing area one night at 530 (we had assigned seating). We were dressed for formal night and told we could not be seated until 6pm. When asked why we could not go to our assigned seats a gentleman yelled seating is 6pm and if we did not want to wait we should go back to our cabins. As we were being scoulded we watched people who did not have assigned seating being escorted to tables.
Cabin / Stateroom
We lifted the children to bunk beds nightly. On the last night we found the ladder. Bed comfortable
Service and Staff
I have nothing good to say about the crew. This would have been a great cruise with a different crew.
Ship Quality
Entertainment
shows were great, activities were great
Children's Programs
The children loved their programs. They enjoyed participation in the holiday program.
