The Bad, thee Good and the Silly
Carnival Fantasy Cruise Review to Caribbean - Bahamas
Sail Date: December 11, 2010
Ship: Carnival Fantasy
Cabin Type: Suite

Smoking permitted in too many places and smoke could be smelled while walking anywhere near those areas. Smoke was awful, permeating everything. No non-smoking areas of any lounges. Really, really sucked.
Room was freezing and no way to heat it. Outside temperature in 40s. And this was a Bahamas cruise!
2 hours to park car. No explanation. We just sat there in line waiting and waiting.
Ship left 5 1/2 hours late. No explanation.
Shower controls were very difficult to turn on and adjust. For someone with arthritis, it would have been impossible.
Not enough places to pick up coffee or iced tea.
No clock in room.
Way too many places trying to get you to have your picture taken on board the ship. In addition to the "ship" and "beach" backgrounds, there was a "Wild West" one! Once, we saw 12 different simultaneous photo places.
Too often food was cold. This included steaks as well as soup.
Could have used some programs of educational or cultural interest.
No destination weather information provided. When asked, the Customer Service desk had no idea and had to look it up. Guess they never heard of weather.com.
Line dance class had person running it who did not know how to line dance.
Opportunities to dance were limited because of the smoking issue.
Dine Anytime dining Wonderful idea! While those that selected early or late seating had to wait in line since they all arrived at once, we got seated right away in the same dining room.
Cruise Casual and Cruise Elegant new definitions. Jeans allowed on Cruise Casual nights and no jackets or ties required on Cruise Elegant ones. Another improvement in common sense.
Food quality. Excellent variety of choices.
Food service, with few exceptions, was fast, friendly.
Room was large and comfortable. We had suite. Jacuzzi tub, lots of room. Balcony. Refrigerator.
Room maintenance and servicing outstanding.
Serenity area at back of ship with two jacuzzis and NO CHILDREN OR SMOKING ALLOWED.
Because of bad weather, the big music/dance was moved from smoker-allowed outside to no-smoking room. Definite improvement since the smoke wafts everywhere.
Excellent well-organized transportation setup at Key West dock.
Had an outstanding rock band to play music.
Impossible to read FAQs on TV before they disappeared off screen of TV.
GPS on the TV had to be the silliest waste of time. The information provided was useless (no ETA, weather or distance to destination). One screen showed resolution that included half the earth. No close-in resolution (e.g. showing 100 Mile screen when say 80 mi. away from destination)
