This was our second cruise which my wife and I took in February 2007 on the Fantasy. Carnival allowed us to board the ship and stated that the repairs would be done quickly and that the cruise would proceed. However, it was decided by Carnival that we would not be leaving the port after all which is understandable because I figured a ship would need major repairs after being hit by a barge. We took it pretty well because it was not Carnivals fault that they were hit. We were given a letter stating that we would receive a reimbursement , 25% off our next cruise and $200 per person for the flight back home. I believe we should have been given more seeing that we were totally inconveinced. We had a MAJOR time trying to get airfare and of course the airlines took advantage of the situation by skyrocketing prices. The prices went up like the stock market each time you called! However, this is where the trouble really begins.
We were reimbursed our excursion and cruise money fairly quickly. However, we had to contact Carnival 4 times in order to get our air fare. Each time we faxed them copies of our information and 3 times they stated they had not received it. We finally received the Money at the end of June. We than called and asked how we could book a cruise with 25% off and we were told we would have to fax the information to them and they would decide if the 25% would be given. TOTALLY RIDICULOUS! Well, needless to say, we will be taking other cruises, which we have pretty much taken each year, but it will not be with Carnival.
