Review summary

The food was unpredictable. Some of it was delicious, and some of it was barely edible. However, the service was great, especially at dinner. They made the dinners very fun and entertaining and we had a great waiter. The pool was fun w/ a DJ and band (although they both played the same songs every day). I didn't go near the pool because it was kiddie central. I wish they had an adult or at least teens and up pool. There were lots of activities geared towards kids but nothing for people in their 20s. The Captain's Cocktail Hour was fun but way too short! The comedy show was great!! The ship was definitely old and outdated, and seemed a bit cheesy. Our room stewart was FANTASTIC--so quick and courteous! We were fine with the 4 bunks in one room with the exception of having only 1 outlet. Room service was free, but slow and the food was gross. Drinks were cheap but fairly weak. Spa prices were outrageously high. Decent gym with a great sauna. A few different bars with very different feels which was nice. One even had a live band every night, and the other was a "discotheque". The talent show was AWFUL, even though they call it "the best event of the cruise."

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Some stuff was very delicious, other stuff was barely edible!

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Again, not enough activities geared towards my age range (mid-20s).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The whole staff was really great. A few minor exceptions but overall everyone was fantastic. Really made the experience so much better.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was too old and outdated. It was obviously decorated in the 90s and felt like a cheesy casino. Everything was very clean. It was really easy and fast to get around. Minimal waiting for elevators.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Size was small but very doable. I really wish there was more than 1 outlet in each room. The beds were sooooooooo comfortable! We all slept like babies. We had a great location too, very close to the stairs and elevators. And our room was very quiet. We didn't have a window though which was strange. And they don't give you a clock! Without a window or a clock we were clueless as to what time it was!

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Cozumel was fun! Although right now pretty torn up from a hurricane. We went on the "Deluxe Sail, Snorkel, and Beach Party" excursion which was sooooo fun!! Absolutely a blast. Other than that we didn't venture that far. Fat Tuesdays is ok and Carlos and Charlies is fun too.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

1 out of 5
There was nothing there! A poor excuse for a port. It was really sad. We even went to a "private beach" on an excursion there and that was 30 minutes away and really lame.

Pros: The dinners at night were really fun.

Cons: There was nothing geared towards people in their mid-20s.

Recommends Carnival Fantasy? No.
