Horrible experience minus the ports. Just felt since we are on the 4th level we were important.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Not enough food choices. Would have been nice to see healthier choices. Food was basic with no flavor and cold.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Felt like there wasn't enough adult activities and what was available was over priced. Pool and hot tub was over crowded. Fitness room was nice.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The show's and music were good. We would say average nothing above and beyond. Would have been nice to have more dance music on the Ledo deck.
Children's Programs
Didn't travel with children
Service and Staff

Overall, service was horrible except our room steward. Also, the dining room service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter was rude, made us feel like white trash. Never asked if we wanted drinks other than water on the table, food was cold & pretty much flopped our food down and that was the about it. We only went to dinner a couple of nights because how we were treated.
Ship Quality

Ship seemed to be clean, saw crew members cleaning all the time. Burger place was disgusting with hundreds of flies flying around.

Other cruises, I stayed in the upper decks/balconies but this was my 1st time on a lower deck. Only reason I was this low my aunt booked our trip. The room was clean and a good size but wasn't able to sleep all week because it was extremely loud and rough. We were seasick most of the week because how rough it was. We went to customer service to ask if we could pay for an upgrade, she was rude and said that after we are on board we couldn't change our booked rooms.
I've been in rooms all over a ship in cheap or expensive rooms. I never noticed a difference in how I was treated. Except for your room steward nobody knows what room you are in or cares. Good service is a factor of a few things, in this order; How you treat them, if you speak to them like they are your servant they will understandably resent you; The mood of the employee, we all have bad days and being away from family during holidays is the worst; Your expectations, if you think you should be treated like somebody special you will be disappointed. If you want something, ask, but saying "No" does not mean they are rude. Nobody can upgrade on a full ship. Waiters on a ship are not bartenders, only expect water from them. There may be disapointments but everything can't be horrible if you have a good attitude. I hope you find an enjoyable form of vacation.
I've been on many cruises and I love Carnival. I've been on the small and the big ships but I did find the Elation to be the rockiest. I was on her 9/28 and I have read many posts with the same complaint on different sailing dates. I was not impressed with that ship.
It sounds like cruising may not be for you. Any ship will have movement if the seas are rough. It’s always a good idea to have some type of remedy such as Dramamine, if needed. Food is obviously very subjective, but we have always found a good variety and acceptable quality in both the dining rooms and buffets on all of the cruise lines we have sailed. When I see most things rated with only one star, it usually tells me a lot more about the attitude of the reviewer than it does about the actual ship.
Sorry this cruise did not meet your expectations. I am surprised about the motion, unless you were far aft or far forward, it should have been less than the upper decks. Hope your next cruise is more to your liking.
Carnival Cruise Line intentionally makes the seas rough just irritate passengers. As for the staff being rude to you, sometimes in life, we get back exactly what we put out. Maybe you should try land vacations next time.
