Review summary

Caribbean trip on an older ship made for a fun experience. Although we didn't love every part of our week, we did try and make the most of our time onboard and do as many of the little things as possible.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was quick and smoothe. We arrived early and were able to get on the ship within a half an hour.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was picture worthy but much of it lacked in taste. The Tiffany's buffet was ok but the brunch at the Imagination restaurant was delicious. Guy's Burgers was delicious but it was a bit pointless to have burger options on a menu board when they just give you a burger and fries automatically, for you to build your own. The BBQ sauce was amazing though! I loved having 24 hour access to the ice cream machine. The coffee shop had excellent coffee (for an additional fee) but the donuts didn't taste very good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Ventured onto the 15th deck for bocce ball and mini-golf. We also took part in the CLUE murder mystery (really fun!), trivia in the promenade, Diva show, Men vs. Women gameshow, comedy shows, and the rock and roll show.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Musicians were outstanding. We really loved the violin's in the promenade and the Caribbean music. We really were hoping for a little more glamour in the shows. They were just 'OK' compared to other cruise lines.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was excellent! Everyone we needed help from was 100% on their game.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
We loved the old school feel of the ship; however, felt the design was inconvenient. We were in a 4th floor stateroom. In order for us to go to our assigned dinner location, we had to take the elevator up past the floor desired and through a smoke filled casino (which the cigarette smoke triggers my husbands allergies) and then down a floor once we got to the other end of the ship. In addition to the inconvenient layout, it was terribly inconvenient to have to wait in line for a soda at a bar rather than just having a machine available. Lastly, the ship was mostly clean but there were a few times where cups/trash were found in the elevator.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
No real complaints here! It was a pretty straight forward look and comfort was pretty standard.

Ship tip

The 15th floor was our favorite, on the ship, It's beautiful for sunsets but it's extremly windy. It's worth the hike up there though.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
This port was beautiful. The water was absolutely serene. I only wish that the shops were a little more traditional vs. being so Americanized.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
This was our favorite port. There were so many options for excursions and our guides were the best.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It moved pretty quickly. No real complaints.
