Good 4 day cruise, nothing special, would recommend for a cheaper option but not for an elaborate vacation.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Very long line even though I showed up at my “appointment time”. Government workers moved quickly however carnival workers are always heckling you for a tip. They try to force you to check your baggage but when you agree they ask for a tip. We were also told our luggage would be in our room within an hour and it showed up many many hours later after we had left port.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Very nice designs for the main dining rooms and very nice service however our wait staff was particularly slow causing us to skip dessert just to make it to shows. Buffet food was consistent with any other buffet style nothing wonderful nothing terrible. The lido deck restaurants were hardly open which offered the best food, unfortunately. Drink service was great.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
1 small pool, 2 hot tubs that were the same temperature as the pool. The adults only section had two slightly warmer hot tubs but the lounge chairs were very worn and old, not consistent with other ships 18+ section which usually has beautiful lounge beds, and chairs. The ship offered mini golf, a giant chess board, bocce ball etc. never long lines for those. The water slides offered were never open from what I had seen. Shows were sub-par, the comedy club was fantastic however 4 shows a day and new material each day, and the casino had very friendly and patient dealers. The night club was also great.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The stage shows were just okay, light music and performances through the ship were fine. The comedy club however was my favorite. Great comedians, multiple shows per day and new material at each show. Most 18+ shows and activities brought out a great laugh and adult fun.
Children's Programs
No children with us.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Great service, very friendly staff. Only a few members heckled for tips, I’m happy to tip anyone on-board for great attentive service but I hate to be asked.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Clean and well-maintained. Certainly and older ship however. The layout was good in terms of everything was located in just a few floors for easy access to shows and food.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Standard size cabin with two portholes and a bathroom. We had a little desk and mirror. 2 closets, a fridge, safe etc.
I suggest storing suitcases under the bed.
King size bed was just two twins pushed together so you just have to watch how they separate and create a crack between the two. Bathroom was small and water pressure was just okay but that’s was nothing unexpected and worked out fine.
Ship tip
Do not buy the airport shuttle service, take an Uber or Lyft to the port (I paid 16$) and once returning, as soon as you leave customs there will be plenty of airport shuttles to catch for cheaper than carnivals rate. We paid 23$ a person for carnival shuttle and waited 2 hours on the shuttle before leaving while other shuttles were in and out very fast.
Port was in a commercial ship yard not within walking distance to anything. Taxi service was cheap to and from a public beach, the beach was nice just a lot of people trying to force you to buy things.
We were dropped off right downtown, I would not explore on your own as it was a little dangerous. We took a cheap taxi service (4$) to Atlantis resort only to find out it’s around 100$ per person for a day pass just to use the beach! Not even their pools or anything else. We took a short walk past the resort to a public beach that was just as pretty.
Very fast and organized. However, DO NOT purchase carnival shuttle service to the airport! We paid $23 a person to sit on a bus for 2 hours while other non-carnival shuttles were cheaper and in and out extremely fast
What I don't u understand is why uber can drop off at port but can't pick up to take airport, makes no sense! Do you need to book shuttle ahead of time?
The porters “heckling” you for a tip are NOT Carnival workers!!! They do NOT deliver your bags to the ship. They simply put them in the warehouse for security scanning and the bags then get loaded on board in bins. The only bags that are delivered early are those of the priority/suite guests and Faster To The Fun guests.
