Very enjoyable New Year's cruise

Sail Date: December 01, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first cruise on Carnival and we had heard mostly negative comments from friends about Carnival's ships. We wanted a New Year's cruise and Carnival had the dates and itinerary we were looking for\, so we took a chance. The Elation more than exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful ship inside and out and just the right size for us. The cruise was fun and relaxing. The New Year's party was epic.

Pros: The ship was very nicely appointed.

Cons: Getting back on the ship after the shore excursions was painfully slow.

Recommends Carnival Elation? Yes!

Ship Quality
We liked the interior furnishings and all variety of spaces to hang out.
Food and Dining
We did My Time dining and had to wait a couple of nights to be seated. The ship ran out of red wine glasses. Our poor bordeaux didn't have a chance in a white wine glass.
Cabin / Stateroom
The (relatively) large shower was nice. More than enough closet and drawer space. Enough outlets for phone and tablet charging.
Service and Staff
The staff from Eastern Europe tended to be a little surly but overall the staff was friendly.
Onboard entertainment was varied and fun. The comedians were funny. The New Year's party was a blast.
