Mediocre Vacation

Sail Date: November 24, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

The ship could not accomodate the number of passengers aboard. During dining times, the food areas were overly crowded. We waited in long lines to get food and the cooks burned food a couple of days, so the area was smoky. We arrived 10 minutes early for showtimes, and there we could not find a place to sit where we could see. One elevator and one adult hot tub were not working during the entire cruise. We never got a chance to sit in the hot tub because the adult one was always full of drunk people and the other ones were full of children playing.

Pros: The shows were pretty good and the food was good when you fianlly got it. The 12-14 year-old club program was a hit with our son.

Cons: This small ship was very crowded. We waited in lines for 30 minutes to get food. There were big gaps in activities, instructions for participation were not clear. One adult hot tub was out of order, and all the others were filled with little kids.

Recommends Carnival Elation? No.

Ship Quality
The ship's crew was friendly for the most part. They tried hard to keep things clean and tidy. The ship needs some repair - hot tub, elevator, missing decor from walls...
Food and Dining
Our waiter at the evening meal was friendly and helpful. The buffet style dining was too crowded. The lines were always long.
Service and Staff
The teen activity coordinator was awesome. Taz kept our 12 year old happy and busy. Most of the crew was friendly and helpful when they could understand what you were saying. Many of them do not speak English well. I tried to talk to the lady at Guest Services and she did not understand me well enough to help. There were several instances where we needed directions or guidance and the staff could not understand English.
Entertainment
Most shows were good. The Rock and Roll show was excellent. The opening show was mediocre, the Win show was better than average. The dancers and singers are very talented. Shows were crowded due to the nmber of people aboard so we had to get there plenty early if we wanted to be able to see the stage. The comedians were funny.
Cabin / Stateroom
The room was clean and in good repair. We had one robe for 3 paseengers! We asked for additional robes and finally got one the night before we departed.
Children's Programs
The 12-14 year old program was good, Our son meet new friends and had plenty of activities to participate in. He would have liked to have fewer dancing and singing activities and more sports and video games.
Cozumel, Mexico
We shopped for souvenirs and played at Paradise Beach
Don't Miss: Snorkeling
