5 Night Western Caribbean (Mobile Roundtrip) Sail Date: October 09, 2010 Ship: Carnival Elation Cabin Type: Inside Reviewed: 6 years ago
Overall was pleasantly surprised at how nice the ship was. Food was average. Staff (with the exception of the staff outside to keep outdoor tables and indoor tables clean) were very good. Room stewards great. Guest relations were prompt and friendly.
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Not the best food I have had but did not expect that much because of the price of the cruise. For example like the mexican buffet had no meat (ground beef),etc.. no taco shells or totillas,no shredded lettuce and little if any of anything else.

Service and Staff

With one evception. The staf to clean and clear tables and trash inoutdoor areas were horrible to say the least even after going to the top staff to complain repeatedly. Trash rolling around on the floor as well. The casual dining areas were better but not the best. EVERYONE was sick of it! I have never been on a ship that allowed that area to be so poorly maintained!

Nicely remodeled ship. Would have been nice to have a bar outside and a small pool outside at the rear of the ship. LOVED the market umbrellas to sit under out back along with the very comfortable and beautiful wicker type deck lounge chairs with cushions!
Cabin / Stateroom

Bigger showers than most. Clean staterooms and updated. Very well insulated as far as noise and the rooms were very cool as some ships you just cannot get your room cool. Nice wide hallways for a ship. And as always I LOVE Carnival mattresses!
Been there 3 times and stayed on the ship except for this last time. You can get off right there near the ship to shop if you like otherwise don't see the town. Nothing to see or shop for. Beaches are terrible. Went in because reviews said massages were $20 or so under nice crisp white "tents" on the beach only to find they don't do that anymore. You can get a massage off the street in a dark unclean hole of a room if you dare. No one I know did1
Don't Miss: You can "miss" all of it! Don't know why the ships use Progresso as a port of call. Costa Maya much better choice!!!
Love Cozumell especially if you get the cab driver to take you all the way to the area where the little park and outdoor shopping venders are. They tend to want to drop you off before that. I usually dive as the diving is great there. Beautiful water!
Don't Miss: Diviving or sail and snorkel.
Pros: Ship has been nicely remodeled. Was pleasantly syurprise. Deck area in back was especially nice with market umbrellas to sit under .Nice deck chairs al over ship. (On some ships the deck lounge chairs are horrible but these were very nice.
Cons: Poor service in outdoor eating ares, around the pool and casual dining area as far as staying on top of clearing and cleaning tables.
