Despite the age and lack of refit, the Elation looked good and was very comfortable. We found our cabin steward to be attentive and thorough. Our cabin looked good with the carpet and furnishings showing little wear. Our waitress and assistant in the Inspiration dining room were outstanding. The food was very good, comparable to that in a better quality hotel's banquet facility. The entertainment was first rate, especially the singers and dancers. There were many college students aboard as it was spring break time, but they were not rowdy and were enjoyable to be around.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were blessed with a window table and a wonderful waitress who kept us entertained and well-fed. The food was of very good quality, not gourmet dining, but one must remember these ships are all about volume and the meals were all excellent. By exploring a little, I found breakfast and luncheon buffet lines that had more than the usual masses of scrambled eggs for breakfast and hamburgers for lunch. The all-night pizza was very good too.

We attended four of the five possible shows in the Mikado Lounge. The comic was a decent standup comic; he was funny, but not anything special. They had a hypnotist books also. This was not something I enjoyed as I do not like watching folks make fools of themselves. The singers and dancers were special. The two reviews they did were both very entertaining and passed all to quickly. These youngsters were all very talented.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward was was attentive without being a obtrusive. We could not have found a better waitress than our Rosanna. The cruise director and his staff were great. The Captain had a wonderful dry sense of humor. Most of the men handling the deck department also tried to make the guests feel welcome and that is not in their job description.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I found the ship to be well kept. Even with an over-capacity passenger list, the public areas were neat and tidy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size of a standard stateroom is very good. My wife and I were never tripping over one and other. The berths were very comfortable and we slept very well. If one looked closely, one could see that the stateroom furnishings were older, but the overall level of the facility was excellent.

Pros: The crew was very friendly, even the deckhands whose job description doesn't include customer care, bought in. The ship was kept clean in all areas.

Cons: The showroom (Mikado Lounge) was showing its age. Sight lines are not the best.
