DORIAN CATAGOERY 5 HURRICANE by lilmiztreated

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Cruise was Fun...its all about what you as an individual make of a bad situation...that being not going to the Bahamas...because of Hurricane Dorian! Our Staff was the best you could ask for. Susilo being my favorite waiter of the trip. They were all great, we met new people made some lasting memories, friendships, and who can say they were on a cruise during a category 5 hurricane Dorian...US! The Captain and crew kept us safe and entertained the best they could! Thanks Carnival I look forward to cruising again with you all. Our prayers go out to the Bahamas and all affected by Hurricane Dorian...God Bless You All

We made the best of this old lady but there was no avoiding that smell of sewageūü§Ę by giselleandmarcus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy

As I said before, the ship is older and the smell of sewage is strong. But besides that, we had a GREAT time on board because that is just US!! Cam is fun and entertaining. There is plenty to do on the ship. Your five days will just fly byūüėĘ I hate saying this but I would NOT cruise The Ecstasy again.

We had a good time by amyenglish

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy

It was a good cruise. I would probably not do this ship again, but it's not because of the ship itself. I think I'm over the small ships personally.

Great Cruise by Byrnath

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival really has the "Fun Ships".

Loads of fun, personal treatment... great value!

This was one of 2 cruises for Santa's Vacation. Went back to back again, this one was prior to boarding the RCCL Freedom of the Seas Good food, entertainment and nicely appointed ship.

The staff was just amazing!! Very very helpful and courteous. One of the wait staff actually cut up my daughter's pancakes because my hands were full :)

The stateroom was very well maintained and clean at all times.

Love this ship even with the hiccups by smathers55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Guest service needs to be a bit more hospitable. I was not impressed by them ...the alchemy bar staff is so awesome this is our new favorite place .... julijana and Edward actually seem to care how your trip was going. the anytime dining hostess Nadia was fabulous even through were wee confirmed for the 6 pm diner and somehow it got messed up. We even showed guest service our receipt that said confirmed dining, they pretty much laughed at us and said oh well sorry. Nadia the blond hostess seemed more understanding .. Micheal or concierge was really sweet when we scene him. The four people that made the trip for us was Edward G, Julijana K, Nadia, and Britany the cruise director, she is just as good as Julie from the tv show the love boat.... this is still our favorite ship even with the hiccups we had. We’re booked on another one in September I’m hoping to get the behind the scene tour before the ship leaves us for the new port. I’m hoping and praying we don’t have a bad experience....I hate to have to find a new favorite boat, or even carrier. Only time will tell...

Ecstatic about our cruise by cathyrose

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Best vacay ever! Best value for our money ever too! The staff were friendly, and we had a comfortable and good time. The food was the best I've ever eaten, and there was a liberal supply of it...all included in our cruise price! Can't beat the value!

Outstanding service, nice New Year's celebration, overpriced excursions by diclemente

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We really enjoyed the chance to see historic Charleston before cruising.  Access to the port was easy and convenient.  Security and boarding lines were long, though we arrived at our designated boarding time.  Security people were rude, and even ripped a bottle of water, with one gulp left, from my hand without giving me the chance to finish.  Aft-facing cabin E255 was small but adequate for 3 people, though we should have been advised that one would have to crawl into the upper berth each night -- not great for older travelers! Carnival provided a very nice New Year's celebration, with a balloon drop from the atrium at 11:00 and a deck party and countdown at midnight.  Really enjoyed hearing the ship's horn sound at midnight!  Lots of champagne was distributed, too.  Throughout the cruise the service was excellent, and while the Ecstasy isn't one of the newer boats, it is still in good condition.  It was great to have the water park separate from the regular pool, though the hot tubs were always overrun with unsupervised kids.  There was a good mix of cruisers on the trip, from children through seniors.  Entertainment was okay -- we heard '80s music and "Bohemian Rhapsody" ad nauseum, and the cruise director, Dustin, was a bit over the top.  Still, Carnival tried to entertain all age groups.  Short show, Brits, was cute.  As for the destinations, they left something to be desired, though they were warm and sunny.

We enjoyed our excursion to Atlantis, but it was way overpriced.  Basically we got to walk through the aquarium, sit on the beach, and eat a hamburger for $100 each.  We were quite disappointed in our Freeport excursion, which was supposed to be a sailboat ride.  After waiting for over an hour where we were told to wait, no one showed to take us on the boat.  Finally we were told the excursion was cancelled.  At that point the only excursion open was the West End tour.  We spent about 90 minutes at a really nice beach, and the guide, Sebastian, was very cordial and entertaining. However, there was really nothing to see except a very small old lighthouse and lots of storm surge from the October hurricane.  In fact, the entire West End was a mess.  I would not recommend this excursion.

It was good to be able to buy 12 bottles of bottled water for the cabin for about $5, and a 6-pack of soda for about $10. We had ordered a birthday cake, but it never arrived and the order was lost.  Overall, by the time Carnival added gratuities and other expenses to our account, it was not a great value. Charleston, however, was outstanding.

Loved it and looking for my next cruise! You have a choice of staying active or doing nothing. Best of both worlds. 24 hour food and drinks. Do not have to lift a hand to do anything what more can you ask for!

Worst Cruise Ever by andrea51789864

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a very disappointing trip! I have cruised in the past and it was a fabulous experience. I was so excited to share that with our adult kids and soon to be spouse and we could not get off the ship fast enough! It was filthy. There were small might looking bugs in our cabin. There were more elevators and restrooms closed than open. The food was not good. The customer service staff would just say this is an old ship you should have booked a newer ship. The private island had a rocky rough beach with cloudy waters. it was nothing in comparison to other cruise lines private islands. Our cheers drink package did not work on the island like other cruise lines do. There were very limited eating choices and the food was not great. The ship was in poor condition and NOT CLEAN! 2 of the 4 of us became sick on board. There was mold in our room. There were bugs in our room. I WAS IN TEARS! DO NOT SAIL THIS SHIP OR CARNIVAL!!!

Bahamas Cruise by jam4310

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Ecstasy / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Had the time of our lives! Already in the process of booking our next cruise! ūüėĀūüõ≥ We wish there were more ship options and destinations to choose leaving from Charleston SC because that is our closest port. Next cruise we'll probably choose somewhere in FL as a port.
