Review summary

I arrived at my check in time. I drove. The parking fee was far too expensive. I did appreciate the shuttle. I was told that I couldn't have bottled drinks. This should be written in large print in the booking paperwork. I held onto it until the last min because I needed to take my med. 5 staff made a big deal. You would have thought I was trying to bring a snake on board. They were far too wired up about some bottled soda. The food was just ok, but drinks good. The room was fine except that last horrible day. For winter cruises, I think shops should have common areas, where ppl often sit heated to be more comfortable. Overall cruise was good. I enjoyed it I would select a different ship next time, although I wood miss food service Jon Jon in the dining room.

Embarkation

Last yr, I was able to bring bottled drinks on board. This yr I couldn't. I have 5 employees repeat it, only needed 1. This was annoying, otherwise the process was fine.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
This ship needs better/more options for vegetarians. Also the taco section on Lido deck should be open as often as Guys burgers. I got the delicious veggie taco once, any other time it was closed. My travel partner got to eat guys burgers everyday. The drinks were great!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Hot tub, Casino, attended shows. I will comment, my steward gave me a spa gift card for my day, which I couldn't use. This was a let down. For a gals bday, the spa could have done a manicure in exchange for the $50 gift card. I was told that the system except the gift card on all services, but ironically not the manicure...

Entertainment

Very good!!!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Usually the service is not the best, but this time I was pleasantly surprised... I would still say, your staff could walk around more throughout the ship, even in common areas, where ppl sir like at the coffee shop, and staff could ask if patrons would like drinks more often. The drink lady didn't come around enough in the casino either.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
My bathroom was not clean on arrival. My steward did address as soon as we commented, so that's good. This ship does need some updating though. My shower had a old stain in the floor and the shower pole, is broken. Rm R22. ( 4th floor). Luckily I didn't need to remove the handheld shower head to use it, but still if I noticed the pole on it broken, your staff did too.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Size was fine. Beds super comfortable. Cleanliness, was like a 8. The room needs updating and a good dusting, even in corners. The biggest complaint is that on the 21st, I was awakened by a loud and very irritating noise around 7 or 8 am, that was constant until 5:30 pm. I was told they were doing repairs. This was unacceptable. I couldn't even nap. This was not a peaceful day. So upseting, I really feel that carnival should provide me with some sort of credit for my next cruise. This day was horrible in my room.

Ship tip

Request not to be on 4th floor. The hall ways smelled the entire trip.. do bring warm clothing, and order the delicious drinks.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

Very small and not much to do.

Nassau, Bahamas

I loved it. To go to the public beach at the Atlantis is always perfect. In the past I've done the horse ride and car tour of the island, both very nice as well.

Disembarkation

This was perfect!! It ran so smoothly.

I don't know how you managed to bring bottled drinks on board on your prior cruise, but the fact that drinks brought on board MUST be in CANS is pretty much common knowledge. Heck, if you look through Shipmate' s messages, that fact is discussed regularly. And Carnival states it CLEARLY on their list of things you cannot bring onto their ships. With acts of terrorism taking place at an alarming rate, it IS a "big deal" when someone tries to bring bottled liquids on board. The rule is in place to protect the passengers and crew, and speaking as someone who was working for an airport on 9/11, I'm GLAD they (the Port's Authority) made a "big deal" about you wanting to break the rule that all the rest of us go by and is their for all of our safety!
