Good experience for kids but not the best for me. Maybe I'll try another ship next time. The port was convenient to my home and the cruise was a great value but left a lot to be desired.

Food and Dining

The hamburger/taco line was the best!! 5 stars
Sorry for the 2 star rating, but as a cruise line, I would definitely consider another way to serve dinner. Very Slow; some of the meals were bland; we ordered sides but the meal came out with other items which makes me feel like it was prepackaged. The desserts leave a lot to be desired. One of our servers didn't even introduce himself or take our order. We had to ask the guy delivering trays to another table if he could get us something. After that, We left before dessert was delivered so we didnt miss the show. Had been there 2 hours. Our waiter that night either needed more assistance or more training in customer service. His attitude really turned me off and we didn't go to dinner the next night. After thinking about it, I registered a complaint with guest services a day later and the manager of the restaurant, Aaron, was very nice. We recieved great service after that. Boris and Nunca are excellent! Complimentary drinks (Tea, coffee, and lemonade) were terrible. Since I'm not a big drinker, I didn't purchase a drink package but this experience is a real incentive to buy the drink package next time.
1 star...The pizza line was always backed up even though it was open 24hrs. The guy needs more help. When he got busy, he wouldn't take orders, just kept fixing pepperoni pizza. The deli server acted like I was disturbing him when I wanted a sandwich. The bar tender had to call him from the back to wait on us. My question is, why at the busiest times is there only one pizza man and one deli man?
Onboard Activities

Great! Kept us active for the entire cruise.
Entertainment

Loved the shows and Stripes. The entertainment crew is hype and positive. Loved the cruise director!
Service and Staff

Please see above for waiters. They must work long hours or too many cruises. Some (not all) are not the most pleasant people. In addition to the dinner waiter above, one of the waiters from Red Frog asked me if I wanted a drink by the pool. When I said that I couldn't find my card at the moment, he waved me off and walked away. Then he never came back. Oh well. Lastly, my liquor purchase was not packaged correctly. Now I have to go through another company to fix that.
My room steward and Guest Services was 5 star so I can't rate this category too low but overall I don't have a good impression of customer service on Carnival. I try to reconcile my feelings with the knowledge that the cruise was a good value but some things cannot be sacrificed so I will have to make a better choice in the future.
Ship Quality

Some parts are hard to get to but very clean.
One of the elevators by our room was out of service but there were plenty more to use. The ice machines went out from time to time and the pool ladder was broken.
Cabin / Stateroom

Beds are comfy! Room was nice.
Ship tip
If you want a good deal go on Carnival. Good for kids or a quick getaway. If you like great customer service go on another ship.
Just off Splendor and the pizza line had a wait at any time and there was 3 people working. The guys were turning out pizzas but people were taking whole pizzas and some times 2 at a time. If you really wanted pizza, it was worth the wait.
oh, you thought the Magic was too big? I loved it...there was so much to do and lots of places to chill out that wasn't crowded...but I understand...love choices😊
I usually leave from Charleston due to convenience, but we went to Port Canaveral, and it was so well organized. So much better than Charleston. Try a bigger ship! But, be prepared for more ppl. Sunshine is my favorite so far. Magic was good but, too big 😂
The Ecstasy is a good ship and is pretty well maintained, you might like the bigger ships but the added amount of people might change your mind. Also not many ports are as nice as Charleston. Happy cruising!
