Our anniversary was a week prior but my husband was in the middle of an 80-hour work week and I'd only have four days off all summer. Coming across this three night weekend cruise, we were thrilled with the price and my husband had never been to Nassau so it was a no-brainer for us. While the kids were with friends and the dogs were with DogVacay, the two of us were able to sleep in, absorb some beautiful sights, explore Caribbean history and dine on delicious cuisine, all uninterrupted. I paid for an ocean view cabin and was so pleasantly surprised to learn they provided us with a balcony, how romantic! Carnival Ecstasy's crew members were very friendly and went above and beyond in answering our questions. We requested "Our Time" dining which did not interfere with our activities or leisure and our meals in the Wind Star restaurant, on the Lido Deck buffet and with room service were exquisite. We applied the Bottomless Bubbles program to our account prior to boarding -- this was to smoothly handle all of my husband's soda and juice cravings with no additional charge. However, we quickly learned that juice was readily available in many locations and a soda order required leaving the cabin to wait in line at the bar because it is not included on the room service menu. This was a disappointment and we won't be participating in the program a second time. Our representative at Cheap Cruises, Jessica Ellis, shared a link and suggested we save money by adding land excursions before boarding as Carnival's prices would be much higher. We took advantage and very much enjoyed our day visiting Nassau and Paradise Island (Atlantis) in our air conditioned van with a local tour guide. We'll certainly be using Cheap Cruises when it's time for us to sail again!

Our cabin steward was just perfect! Every time we returned to our cabin, we found the towels freshened and bed remade (with a new towel animal) along with the next day's itinerary. The cabin was roomy for two, we had cable television, a closet, dresser drawers, a safe, full bath, multiple outlets, everything was just right.

Spent all morning in line because passengers weren't prepared. It's recommended that you have your boarding pass and passport out and ready (clean the bar code) as the system had trouble reading several passport cards. Your carry-on should not take the space of two people as the line already goes out the door and around the building! Heads up, all keys and electronics, phones, chargers, etc., should be IN your carry-on prior to reaching the security checkpoint. Once you get through security, seats are provided for travelers. Dress warm, the air conditioning is on high for the two hours that you're crawling through the line.
Nassau, Bahamas
The port was clean, easily maneuverable and sunny! The visitor center was closed for renovation but plenty of cheery locals were present to assist with quite the selection of activities from hair braiding and scooter rental to snorkeling and air conditioned tours.

The ship's maiden voyage was in 1991 and the decor hasn't changed. If you can overlook the brass and bright carpet throughout and seek out the pool, whirlpools, variety of dining options, live music, a casino, and duty-free shopping, then you'll have a fantastic time!
