It's an older ship, but in good repair...you do sort of step back into the 90's with the decor. Staff was very friendly, but the food quality was poor. Of course you can't expect a Mariott at Motel 6 prices, but these affordable Carnaval boats definitely appeal to the masses. Our last cruise was with Celebrity, and it beat this Carnaval cruise hands down in terms of quality and TLC. We actually had a cheaper balcony room on Celebrity, yet each nite we had hors'douvres, champagne, etc. They charged us for bottled water on Carnaval (in a $1200 suite!) However, our adult children on a budget seemed to be pretty happy with it because of the value ($199 a head).

Food and Dining

While our wait staff was very friendly and accomodating, that doesn't make up for undercooked lobster, and then a second one that smelled/tasted rotten, tough steak, lobsterless "lobster bisque"...etc. I will say that the chicken nuggets in the buffet were awesome, and the desserts at dinner were very good.

Entertainment

Plenty of options each evening for young and "older like us"

We spent over $600 a piece and got the oversize suite with a balcony...precious few of them on the Ecstasy!

Pros: Bang for the buck

Cons: Food Quality

Recommends Carnival Ecstasy? No.
