Sail Date: April 01, 2010 Ship: Carnival Ecstasy Cabin Type: Inside Traveled As: Family (young children) Reviewed: 8 years ago
Overall this ship is a great value for the money and the location of the port. even though the ship is older, it has been kept up very well and the hospitality of the staff is very good. The rooms seems to have more space than others. The entertainment is top notch. I would definitely recommend this as a good value cruise.
Food and Dining

Pretty good food overall. Some everyday items were plain and uninviting. Most dinner selections were excellent and the service in the dinning rooms was pretty good. They did seem to squeeze too many people in each room for dinner which made it hard to be completely comfortable.

I was very impressed with the entertainment aboard ship. The main revue shows every evening were excellent and fun for the whole family. Other activities like bingo, contests, parties and shore excursions made for good variety everyday. Definitely one of the best aspects of the cruise.

This was the most disappointing program for the cruise. For our 2.5 yr old, the children's program provided very little age-appropriate activities. The plan seemed to have good ideas but the implementation was very poor. It was very much tailored to school age kids. Several other parents of 2 & 3 yr olds experienced the same thing so it was not an isolated experience.
Service and Staff

Overall the staff was good. At first, it didn't seem as though they were anything special but they gradually got better as the days went on. Most were extremely friendly and made every effort to make us feel good. They even went so far as to greet my 2.5 yr old every time they saw her, making her feel special all by herself.

It's not the largest ship I've seen but it is big enough for what you need. The layout is very nice and the decor has a flashy quality that makes you feel like it's a special place. I was very impressed with the daily cleanliness of the whole ship. The hospitality staff was probably the best group on board.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our interior stateroom was actually pretty nice for being the lowest class of room. The space was more than I expected and the housekeeping staff was outstanding in keeping it clean. Everything was comfortable. The only negative was that the room was very cold from the air conditioning and the thermostat didn't provide much capability to find a good moderate temperature. Be prepared for a cold room.
Pros: Port close to home, affordable prices, excellent hospitality
Cons: Not much available for toddler children 2 or 3 yrs old
