A nice boat for it's age

we booked our first ever cruise in August to sail in December to aviod weather delays. Fog shut down the Galveston port and Carnival acted as if they had never had a delay before. Some customers after waiting for more than 8 hours went to the front desk and demanded and received a refund and left. If we had known that was an option we certainly would have done so as well. The line we were in was so crowded, standing room only for hour after hour we could not have gotten out of that crowd if the place was on fire! We also noted Carnival was not making this option public for if they had that ship would have sailed empty. Was also not aware until we got to our room that the destination changed to Progreso, a place that has nothing but Ruins, beaches are worse than Galvestons. What a shame that the almighty dollar means more to Carnival than good customer service and giving a passenger what they pay for. We paid for VIP boarding and as you can see no one was VIP, it was crowd in and get herded like cattle. We felt after 6 hours of this mess it was leading to a dangerous situation and felt Carnival was responsible for this fiasco. The fog was not Carnival's fault and not the problem, it was the way they chose to handle the delay in order not to loose any passengers and have to give refunds. We will think twice before we choose this company again. I am writing the boss a letter and will glady post his rsponse good or bad. If Carnival decides to give us what we paid for then I will be happy to report that. From what I have read so far, customer service after they take your money is not very good. We shall see.

Hit or miss some things were good but mostly like cafteria slop. Dinner service was horrible and took over 2 hours, we did that 1 time only and chose the room serive instead.

Lovely Penthouse Suite
Service and Staff
Every one we spoke to was nice. The purser's desk however was trained how to treat complaining customers and tell them "corporate" had to make decisions about the delay at port.
Children's Programs
My son enjoyed the programs he finally warmed up too but was afraid at first due to the boarding fiasco.
