Review summary

Even though there were issues, we still enjoyed our trip. Can’t wait for the next one.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
For the most part the embarkation was efficient. Speakers in the waiting room could not be heard throughout so some of it was a guess at what was said. Only other issue is other passengers who feel entitled to push their way past everyone. Obviously, that is not the fault of the terminal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate at the Crimson main dining room every night. Some food was delicious and some was just pretty good. Also ate at Blue Iguana Cantina for lunch and breakfast. The burritos were very good. The drinks were all very tasty. Always pay way too much for them though. Wanted a souvenir blowfish cup from the Red Frog Rum Bear but didn’t realize that it only contained a couple swallows and rest was ice. The cup is cute though.

Pizzeria del Capitano

Pizza was very good but always crowded.

Onboard Activities

I really hate to give a less than great review. We thoroughly enjoyed the spa room and amenities. Serenity is a wonderfully relaxing area. Only complaint there are the underage kids that try to “hang out” and cause trouble. The Thalassotherapy Pool was very enjoyable as were the thermal suites and relaxation room. For our anniversary my husband wanted me to enjoy the spa. The ionothermie is a rip off (should have known that). Acupuncture was a new experience. I can say it helped with the dizziness from sea sickness. Where the main problem starts is with the Rasul Room. It is an extra $50 to us this room. Unfortunately, we were not told that certain aspects of it did not work. It would be an enjoyable and romantic experience if everything was working properly. An hour is allowed for the experience but we didn’t make it long before becoming aggravated with it. After explaining our case we were assured that adjustments would be made to our spa charges. I don’t believe an extra $10 off is adequate. The staff treats you so wonderful, you don’t realize you still are getting nothing for the trouble. As I said, I hate to leave a negative review, however I’d like others to be warned of using the extra spa charges.

We enjoyed looking through our pictures each evening and putting our favorites together to choose in the end. On the last evening all pictures had been moved around and many passengers were having trouble finding their pictures back.

Thermal Suite Tepidarium

5 out of 5

Loved the thermal suites.

Thalasso Pool

5 out of 5

It was very relaxing and very seldom had many people.

Serenity Adult Only Retreat

5 out of 5

Love the Serenity deck. Lots of seating. Did not use the hot tubs. Always seem to be crowded.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We only made it to two shows. Both were amazing.

Children's Programs

No kids with us this time

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Absolutely everyone of the staff were wonderful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everywhere we looked there were staff cleaning and maintaining. Some of the maintenance should be done when not in service.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The inside cabin is a bit smaller than we have been accustomed to but we didn’t spend much time there anyway. Our room steward was always available. He made sure we had ice everyday.

Ship tip

Try to go when school is in session. Kids overrun the ship.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Cozumel, Mexico

Love Cozumel. We did the Salsa Salsa Excursion at Playa Mia through shore excursioneer. It was so much fun!

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

3 out of 5
We did not do an excursion. The water is beautiful but we did not visit the beach. When getting off the ship there are some stores and a restaurant with a pool. The stores, of course, are pushy. The bus into Progreso dropped off in a parking lot full of very pushy vendors (I realize this is how they make money). Access to the beach was down a scary looking alley that didn’t look safe. We went back to the ship. If our cruise ever goes back to this port we will try an excursion or take bus to Merida.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
As Faster to the Fun we were to meet at 7am. We were off the ship by 8:15 and through the terminal by 8:35. We didn’t have anything that had to be checked through customs.
