We had an air evacuation by the Coast Guard after we left Cozumel. Many rumors were around the ship about a stabbing. We all watched the helicopter drop the baskets to retrieve them. However, when we asked staff what had happened, no one could give us details. When we got home I read on The Coast Guard news site they air evacuated a young man who had a seizure along with his mother and the nurse. I think the Captain could have given a very brief explanation to us instead of letting rumors go wild.
Embarkation

The lines moved quickly and the staff at the NOLA port were friendly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
You can't beat a Guy Fiere's veggie burger and fries. The food in the dining room was fantastic always with a vegetarian option.
The Chocolate Extravaganza was superb!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We were selected to compete with another couple in an onstage game the first night on the ship. Our husbands were behind a wall and threw balls attempting to hit our velcro patches placed strategically on our jumpsuits. Both couples won and were "Celebrity VIPs." This included champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and backstage pass to visit with the dancers. The best part was VIP seating during every show.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Excellent performers with dance talent and beautiful voices. The shows were some of the best I've seen on any ship.
Service and Staff

Staff was attentive and professional.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was clean and the staff was constantly scrubbing and cleaning it. We had a party of 10 on this cruise. Eight of them got the flu or had flu-like symptoms. We heard at the pizza bar on the last night that many other people had gotten sick. When I got home I contacted Carnival to see if this had been a wide-spread problem. Of course, they said it wasn't.

Ship tip
There is a pasta bar that we didn't discover until our third day on board. Bella Pasta is fantastic with no crowd and no lines. Many dancers eat there, so we got to talk to them.
At the end of the day does it matter? No disrespect intended but it happens then the cruise continues. When it happens on my cruises I hope the best for those affected and respect the crew for dealing with it. Then the cruise goes on.
The mom of this young man is in one of the cruise groups on another site, and she posted an update about her son. He did indeed have a seizure as a result of a high fever. He has since recovered, she said. And she thanked the Coast Guard for their professionalism and the crew for their assistance during the entire ordeal.
I was on ship with a helicopter medical evac. a few years ago. Heard same kind of rumors. Everything from stabbing to murder to a fall or a heart attack. Same old story, people exaggerate or seek drama in their life. Don't believe anything you hear from fellow guests.
The cruise line won't comment about specific medical details on passengers because it's a violation of hipaa. The coast guard doesn't have to follow the same guidelines.
