Review summary

Carnival Dream is a little hard to find your way around, due to some of the floors not going from front to back. We had any time dining, but next time will have a scheduled time to dine, I believe I like that better. The staff on the dream was wonderful, and everyone that we came in contact with was great.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was easy and unevenful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Soft drinks should be included with price of cruise

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
want to use the whirlpools, but water was so hot could not use them. Enjoyed some of the shows, but they were not top quality.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
acceptable, but not top of the line

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff we came in contact with were great and very helpful.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The floors and wall around the ships decks were not clean, always saw trash and stains all over the ship. I have been on another Carnival Cruise and the ship was very clean and was on a disney cruise and you never saw trash laying on the decks.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room was clean, and the staff was excellent, but the bed was like sleeping on cement. Did not have a decent nights sleep the whole cruise. I talked to the guest services and they had the staff put a comforter under the sheet but it did not make a difference.

Ship tip

Don't spend the extra money on a balcony stateroom, you really spend very little time in the room, and they have lots of areas to sit and enjoy the ocean view on the deck. Spent very little time on the balcony and the chairs on the decks are much more comfortable than the ones on the balcony.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
Went to the french quarter and enjoyed the overnight stay in New Orleans.

Montego Bay, Jamaica Did not visit port

Have been to this port twice before, no new things to visit that I was interested in.

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Have visited this port before and was not interested in any of the excrusions.

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

Had a excrusion booked but the ship docked to late to make the leave time for the excrusion. So did not get to do the one excrusion that we had planed and paid for.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Went to the disembarkation meeting on how to leave the ship in a timely manner. They told us to wait in our cabins until our deck was called, which we did, but so many people had went up to the 10th floor and caught the elevators that their was no way to catch an elevator to go to the 3rd floor. I think that the elevators should only stop on the floors that have been called during the 15 minute disembarkation time. We were to go between 8 and 8:15, but ended having to carry 4 suit cases down 6 set of stairs to get to the 3rd floor, and when we got there the placed was packed with people who were waiting for their floor to be called. Even though we were told that no one would be allowed to wait on the lobby floor. They called to decks at a time, 1 and 12, then 2 and 11, then 4 and 6. If 3 of the elevators only went to deck 4 and then returned to deck 3 and the other 3 elevators went to deck 6 and then returned to deck 3, it would stop the other decks from filling the elevators when it was not their turn. They could have the inside elevators be able to take visitors to the lido deck for breakfast. The control of the elevators could began when the first group of passengers decks were called. The other possibility would be to have a pre paid disembarkation program so if you really needed to leave the ship extra early due to early flights or long drives you could have a pre planned time so you could be off the ship first.

Thank you for the 4 stars but you sound like it doesn’t take much to upset you....

All shops are like that. Theaters, the galley, and large venues occupy huge areas, so you need to learn hie to get where you want to go. And all ships come with deck plans to help you navigate.

The reason for the floor not going all the way from one end to the other is the galley is located in the middle of the ship to be able to supply all of the dinning areas easily. Next time go to deck 2 and it will get you from one end to the other with no problems and very few people. Also next time get the FTTF pass and you will be part of the first group off of the ship well worth the extra money.
