Review summary

All in all we had a very good time on our cruise because of our excursions and the people that we met but we were extremely disappointed in the service that we received and the food quality was below par. We were trying to convince a group of friends to go next year on a cruise with us, but have decided that we're not going to take a cruise because of this experience.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation was very quick and we were on the boat a half hour before our scheduled arrival time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
This is the third time we have sailed on a Carnival Cruise. On this particular Cruise the food was well below what we expected and what we have experienced on prior cruises. Also many of the restaurants were not open after 2:30 in the afternoon. You either had to eat in the dining room or you had to eat the buffet and the food was not near as good as it has been on previous cruises. We bought the liquor package and feel like we had to beg people to wait on us. There was one particular waiter on the AFT pool deck by the name of Shawn who was amazing. All other experiences with the drink wait staff were below expectations. Normally we had to actually walk to the bar to get our drinks and still had to wait 20 minutes for them to make them because they did not have enough bartenders. The drinks were good but it was like we had to fight to get our drinks. Also the only place you could actually get a Coke prior to 8 a.m. was on the very back of the boat at the pizzeria. It seems like many of the bars closed up far too early.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We mainly went to The pool on the AFT deck is where we spent most of our sun time. It could have been bigger but we did enjoy it and it had a water area all around the pool which was enjoyable.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We watched two Musical shows which were extremely good and entertaining. We also went to the comedy club about 3 different times all were very good and funny.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our Steward for our room was very good and attentive and took care of us. Some of the staff in other areas of the ship we're not as cherry and nice as what we're accustomed to on a Carnival Cruise. More than one or two bartenders we're almost rude at times.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship itself and our room was very nice. Everything about the ship was what we expected. Yeah it's asking about

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our cabin was very nice and we felt it was clean and was taken care of very well by our Stewart but the mattress itself probably should have been replaced when they did the remodel on the ship.

Ship tip

I do not know what advice to give someone other than to research their ships and the reviews thoroughly before they choose to go on a cruise. We probably will not sell on this ship ever again and will think twice before booking another Carnival Cruise because of the service we received and the food quality.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
The port and the parking were very good we got on the boat very quickly a half hour before our scheduled time. The port was very clean and moved very quickly through the lines.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

2 out of 5
While we enjoyed Dunn's Falls a lot. We did not really care for Montego Bay Jamaica. It was a somewhat dirty and poor area that we will not go to again.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
This port was more like a resort it was beautiful & the water was beautiful. We had a great time on the beach that day. We went to Seven Mile Beach. We will definitely go back to this port again. More than likely it will be to an all-inclusive resort and not on a cruise ship.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
This is one of the best stops of any Cruise. We took the VIP Champagne Sail and Snorkel Excursion. It was AMAZING! The staff on thE Catamaran attended to every one of our needs and went above board. It was way beyond our expectations. This is definitely an Excursion that we will do again.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
We carried our bags off of the boat because we wanted to get a head start on our drive back home to Louisville Kentucky. We did not actually get into our car until after 9 a.m. the lines were terrible and you have to navigate two flights of stairs with your suitcases because you cannot get on an elevator. Customs was a breeze to go through with no waiting whatsoever, which was a plus!

We have just done our 18 th cruise and left from different ports on different ships and have never had a problem have loved the ports and the experience has been great we travel from Australia and the trip is so worth while it's a shame you had a bad experience there are many cruise lines to choose from .... we have 88 days until we leave on our next adventure.

Well, I hope you're not going to stop cruising. Give RC a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
