mediocre cruise

Sail Date: July 01, 2013

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Inside

My expectation was this ship since it is bigger and newer than other ships\, it will have bigger and better dining room area\, more shops inside ( since we have 2 days at sea) \, more areas to use and explore that will not cost so much. The sauna that is free with other ships- here in carnival dream is a package deal of 149.00 for single and 249.00 for couple. The ports that we went were Cozumel\, Roatan honduras\, Belize\, Costa Maya. As always the shops are just right there but the locals who sell are mean and pushy in Costa Maya. The new thing we like is the comedy show \"punchliner\" - but you have to go there early to get seats. The major shows with the dancers are great but the lounge too small for their big night. we were not able to see it since 15 min before the show the lounge is already packed.

Pros: service was great as always\, Cozumels port - has a nearby for reef snorkeling\,

Cons: Sauna has a fee\, big ship but the dining area seems same as the smaller ships\, wait longer for boat tenders in Belize because of many passengers . The other ports - there really nothing to do- smaller islands - specially Roatan in Honduras- do not rent a car- there is nothing to see. No reef at all.

Recommends Carnival Dream? No.

Ship Quality
expecting bigger layout and more stuffs to see inside the ship.
Food and Dining
Since this ship carries more passenger\, the mongolian wok which is like hibachi has the longest line since it has only 2 people cooking. The ship stores are the same - nothing bigger than other smaller ships\, dining was good- some foods are bland on some days and as always we love those lobster\, prime rib \, escargots\, cream of mushroom soup\, desserts ( some) .
Cabin / Stateroom
Same size\, same everything- still nice and clean.
Service and Staff
Great service!
Go to the major shows early to get good seats. Days at sea- -I would recommend to bring some playing cards or mahjong sets- not much to as the the pools and jaccuzis are packed and we dont gamble. Oh- the movies - they have 3 channels for the movies in your stateroom but they play almost every 3 hrs\, you can order it on demand and pay or wait hopefully - it does not conflict with any plans. The movies are same for 7 days... suggestion- maybe they shld at least have a variety--
