Eastern Carribbean on the Carnival Dream

Sail Date: June 01, 2013

Reviewed: 3 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Inside

I have read other reviews for past cruisers about the Carnival Dream and they were spot on. It is a typical Carnival ship - food, layout etc. We have only been on other other cruise - the Splendor - and the Dream is much larger. Because of that - the lines for EVERYTHING are much longer. Once you get used to the fact that you will be waiting in line - it isn't so bad. The decor is much nicer than the Splendor and so were the shows. My biggest complaint that I had was that our cabins - 6245 and 6251 were directly above the Encore theater. No one told us about that when we booked and the music was so loud we could not go to our rooms during the shows. If you are booking a cruise on the Dream and you get a room on the 6th floor - learn from our mistake. Otherwise - our time on the Carnival Dream was good.
Ship Quality
A typical Carnival ship
Food and Dining
Food was a bit bland - but there was plenty of it
Cabin / Stateroom
Unfortunately our rooms were above the Encore Theater.
Service and Staff
Entertainment
The shows were good - however the music was way too loud
Children's Programs My teenagers chose not to use Club C or Club O2
Onboard Activities
Destinations and Excursions
You get to the Bahamas at 7:00 am which is too early to do anything. We did a shopping tour in St. Thomas which was a joke for $50.00 a person.
Port Canaveral, Florida
Nassau, Bahamas
Got there at 7:00 am so lots of wasted hours to do nothing
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Bought an excursion to go to the top of the mountain and shopping for downtown for $50.00. The top of the mountain is an overpriced souvenir shop. The downtown shopping is just locals selling their wares. Not worth the money we spent.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Took an excursion on the Golden Eagle Catamarran and had a wonderful time
