Nothing to Disappoint

Sail Date: October 01, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

Beautiful ship is the Dream. Nicely appointed, artistic, and easy to get around for such a large ship. The dining room food was pretty decent, not spectacular, with some notable dishes in the buffet at lunchtime that were surprisingly terrific. And the Middle Eastern buffet was a nice surprise. Made me miss the great food when I've led tours to Israel in the past.. This was our 19th cruise and we are quickly becoming Carnival fans, although I would never go Carnival when schools are out. Great comedians. Veranda rooms a bit larger than most lines. And the arrangement in the Spa rooms with the private spiral staircase allowing you to access the spa in your (special) Cloud 9 bathrobe from your room was just very cool! But stay on Panorama Deck if you choose Spa room - not Spa Deck! Why? Your Veranda on Spa deck will have no roof and you can be viewed from above by anyone. No sunbathing advised!

Pros: The Spa Cloud 9 veranda room

Cons: a stingy casino

Recommends Carnival Dream? Yes!

Service and Staff
Room steward "Mario" was a 10! Our waiter was great until the last evening. This has proven to be a common experience. We usually tip the suggested and they apparently know when they are given only the suggested because our waiter suddenly turned surly on the last evening and threw our baked Alaska in our general direction - didn't bother to say goodbye either.
Food and Dining
Ship Quality
A quite beautiful ship. Not Celebrity Soltice quality, but very very nice!
Cabin / Stateroom
Spa Veranda is a large room, great Carnival bedding, mattress. Lame bath products, even though advertising the promised Elemis products for Spa rooms. They were quite chincy with these.
Cozumel, Mexico
Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
Belize City, Belize
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
The "beach" clubs are a joke. Don't believe the hype. They are rocky and disappointing. But if all you plan to do is drink yourself silly you'll be fine. Though you will spend the day waiting in line for your next drink. We did get a nice couples massage , though, for a ridiculously low price
