invalid-33482 Sail Date: June 18, 2011 Ship: Carnival Dream Cabin Type: Suite Reviewed: 6 years ago
A very nice ship, although as noted below and worth emphasizing, the main pool was ridiculuously small given the size of the ship and the number of children. I also felt that Carnival "nickles and dimes" guests - 15% "gratuity" mark-up on wine bottle orders. Fellow traveler reported paying $11 for a tiny sewing kit. A charge for drinks at the BBQ. Staff was excellent; food was bad.
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Food was a bad experience -- regular dining room food was awful. Buffets were uninspired. Outdoor BBQ was good. Room service menu was too limited (including breakfast). Steakhouse was excellent. Room service was reliable and mostly timely.

Nothing outstanding or even notable. Maybe those with kids had a better experience.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Lots of pleasant staff members, very polite and always willing to help. Just short of "the best" rating.

Ship public areas were mostly clean. Main pool was far too small for ship size -- a big MINUS. Decorum on ship was mixed at best - some rude quests, especially the teens. Shouting in public areas and sex in spas occurred.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Beautiful Grand Suite Stateroom. Meticulous stateroom housekeeping. Very comfortable. Really, no negatives.
Skip the Megan May Beach excursion -- overcrowded. Excursion was poorly organized at port. Unknowingly, we took a public taxi (enlarged shuttle that holds 10 or more passengers) and had to pay for it and the beach entrance fee. To Carnival's credit, they refunded our excursion cost.
The Catamaran excurion was a GREAT experience. The crew members were just great -- super friendly. Have lunch at the local outdoor BBQ on the beach -- better food than ship -- BBQ chicken, ribs and nice salad. Unlimited food & drinks/beer on return trip provided on return trip!
Don't Miss: Catamaran & snorkeling excursion.
