invalid-33599 Sail Date: May 14, 2011 Ship: Carnival Dream Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Family (young children) Reviewed: 6 years ago
Our overall impression was okay, since this was a brand new ship we expected newer things besides the water park area.
Food and Dining

not too many choices for people with dietary needs, loved the steak restaurant...you must eat there. Food in the main dinning room was not as great as you would expect. when you ask for drinks from the bars they automatically bill you a tip which can be somewhat expensive if you like to drink a lot! more variety in the dinning room is needed, lines for buffet food where not that bad, wait time was maybe 0 to 5 minutes. Only 1 midnight buffet!

We didn't do that many because they were at midnight and after a day of excursions we were too tired to go. Mini golf was always busy! Water park area needs to be bigger and have more things for small children...there was only a small area for toddlers which really was not that much fun, it only included a water slide.

great activities at camp carnival, our daughter loved it! Staff was very friendly. I would just suggest more age appropriate toys for the 4 to 5 year old area. They had a few toys that my daughter has already outgrown. The electronic games suck as wii was only for the older kids...which i really thought it was unfair. there are many wii or xbox games available for the 4 and 5 years olds to enjoy that they should of made available for them but they didn't allow them to do.
Service and Staff

very friendly staff...they sang to me on my birthday. Our waiter knew and remember the drinks we liked to have for dinner and had them ready for us.

size of the ship was average, clean, floors in pool area were very slippery. Decor was good. Gym area need a better AC unit where the cardio equipment. It got really hot after doing cardio for over 20 minutes.
Cabin / Stateroom

our stateroom was the one with the balcony...the AC really sucked. It god hot in the room at times, specially at night! Great amenities, beds were a bit hard for us. Our room was in the middle of the ship which made it great...you can have easy access to everything.
ride to our destination was long and hot! Buses didn't have good ac...must bring water to your excursion as it will get really hot at times. Our tour was at 9am and it felt like it was noon of how hot it got. Not for smaller children, lots of walking!

you must do the dolphin swim but be careful when they are trying to sell you the pictures! We knew that we had to hassle our price before we purchased...and we did! our package cost several hundreds but only paid half of that and got all the pictures we wanted plus a video. Don't pay the high price acts as if you are not interested and they will lower the price. Lunch was included in our excursion but it really was nothing special...would have rather eaten in the ship and save that money.
