Not the best ship we've been on.

Sail Date: January 01, 2011

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Oceanview

(We actually cruised in March of 2010 but it wasn't a choice so I said Jan 2011.)
Anyway, we've cruised with Carnival 3 other times and we've never had a bad experience. I think the ship is too big with too many guests. We waited in line for Mongolian for over an hour and then it wasn't even good. The buffet and grill lines are always long and we gave up totally on the pasta bar. The smell by the waterpark is unbearable and it was also in our bathroom. The waiter was very slow at our table, while tables around us were getting dessert, we were waiting for the appetizers. And forget about ice water or iced tea at dinner! We did submit a formal complaint to Carnival headquarters and were basically told "too bad, you should've said something at the percers desk". And yes, there were guests sitting on the stairs in the auditorium because there was not enough seating for the shows (which we thought were wonderful).
What ever happened to customer service?? Even though it's a "cheaper" vacation than Royal, it's still expensive for a working class family like mine.
BUT the room steward was very very pleasant.

Pros: The ports of call

Cons: The smell!

Recommends Carnival Dream? No.

Service and Staff
They are always friendly. This time it was the speed of dining room service that was poor.
Food and Dining
too many people, not enough staff
Ship Quality
besides the rotten egg smell it was good
Cabin / Stateroom
Entertainment
Children's Programs
Our kids didn't participate, as it was a family vacation, but it looked like the other children were having fun.
Do be advised that it costs a dollar to play Pacman in the arcade...bring lots of extra money if you go in there.
