An awesome vacation

Sail Date: January 01, 2011

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

Overall this is a beautiful ship with plenty to do for everyone. The staff did a great job keeping everything amazingly clean throughout the trip.

Pros: variety of things to do for all ages and interests, great way to relax with family and friends, beautiful well-maintained ship and excellent steward service

Cons: mediocre entertainment, lame midnight buffet

Recommends Carnival Dream? Yes!

Food and Dining
Lots of variety, but not always excellent quality (would be comparable to banquet food); allowed advance ordering to prepare gluten free options in dining room, but not the same allowances for allergies in the daily buffet areas
Entertainment
The dancers and singers in the main theater were not of the high caliber I expected, they were good but not amazing by any means. Some of the other singers around the ship were mediocre as well. There were some funny comedians and some excellent band musicians and pianists however.
Children's Programs
Our 16 year old enjoyed some of the parties for her age group and just meeting other teens in Club O2. Our 13 year old thought the 12-14 year old activities in Circle C were kind of lame.
Cabin / Stateroom
very nice with decent amount of drawers and closets, adequate size for family of 4, comfortable beds
Service and Staff
we loved our room Steward and how all the staff always greeted us when passing in the halls; our dining staff had trouble keeping up with us at dinner sometimes
Ship Quality
Beautiful, very clean and well-maintained throughout the week
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
We loved visiting beautiful St. John and snorkeling at Cinnamon Bay Beach. The taxi ride on the island was quite exciting and the people were very nice.
Don't Miss: snorkeling at one of the beautiful beaches
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Beautiful island with friendly people; we took a taxi to Maho Beach and spent the afternoon eating at the Sunrise Bar, watching the airplanes arrive and take off and enjoying the beautiful water
Don't Miss: watching the airplanes at Maho Beach
Nassau, Bahamas
We enjoyed the ferry ride over to Paradise Island; the narrators were funny and informative; a lot of shops were closed because we were in port on a Sunday morning
