Great Experience

Sail Date: December 23, 2010

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Inside

The ship was very well-maintained and had everything you would ever need on a cruise. The gym and spa were nice, there was a variety of entertainment options that you could choose from, and the decorations were colorful and really added to the festive spirit on the ship.

Pros: Friendly staff, good food, great entertainment

Cons: Long lines getting back to the ship

Recommends Carnival Dream? Yes!

Ship Quality
Everything was easy to access, there were maps everywhere to help the passengers find where they were. The ship was kept very clean by the staff and the ship size, although large, was reasonable enough for everything to be easily accessible.
Food and Dining
The quality of the food was overall very good and its presentation at dinners was especially good. There wasn't much in the way of specialty options and the variety of food was not as great, but I enjoyed almost all of my meals and the entertainment that came along with the dinners.
Cabin / Stateroom
The stateroom was a reasonable size for its price and had everything you would expect given the limited amount of space. The beds were fairly comfortable, but the top bunks were difficult to get to.
Service and Staff
The staff was wonderful - the waiters, stewards, crew, etc...everyone was enthusiastic, friendly, and extremely willing to help out in any way they could. They never failed to greet you or ask you how you were doing - the restaurant waiters in particular were superb.
There was an abundance of different activities and shows going on every day that you could choose from and the crew did a good job of getting the passengers involved in friendly competitions. The "classes" were very entertaining and had people learning how to do different things while having fun. The shows were fantastic, especially the hypnotist show and every single performance was unforgettable.
Belize City, Belize
Belize City offered very little aside from shore excursions, of which zip lining is probably the best. Shopping options were lackluster and the city itself was in poor condition with soldiers carrying AK47's walking around everywhere.
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
Costa Maya was a great stop - plenty of shopping options and some interesting statues around the city. Take the time to go downtown (by taxi) and there is a nice beachfront there that you can sit on and order cheap drinks from the local bars there. You can find good quality silver for good prices at one shop, The Silver Reef which is on the beachfront downtown. The shop owner is very nice.
Cozumel, Mexico
Cozumel was great - the port that we arrived at was very interesting and had an intriguing local style. The shopping options were excellent as well and the shore excursion that I went on (ATV) was fun.
Nassau, Bahamas
This was mainly a shopping tourist trap area - there wasn't much in the way of sightseeing aside from the beach, which wasn't very exciting. There were many shopping areas if you are interested in that.
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
We visited the Mahogany Bay beach, which was very pleasant and relaxing.
