"Somewhat indifferent"

Sail Date: June 26, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Inside

Evening dining room service and food was excellent! Breakfast dining room service was poor - no refills on drinks. Ship appearance was on par with other Carnival ships. Although there were two pools and seems like enough areas for sunning, there were NEVER any chairs available and if you went out early to get a chair, "rude", "disrespectful" fellow cruisers felt they could move your things and help themself to your chair. (beyond Carnival's control, obviously). Walking track too short, gym too small for number of passengers! Ship is noisy! Heard a lot of noise inside stateroom from neighbors, hallways, and overheard. A lot of creaking of ship during the night as the ship rocked with waves. Ship rocked a whole - lot; know we had some weather conditions a couple of days, but even without high waves, felt a lot of movement - wonder if a problem with ship and it being so big...?Need additional staff/security controlling the children and teens on board. Never saw a staff member at the kid's clubs; teens were running around the ship, all hours of the night without parents or crew for supervision. Maybe a curfew would be good, for under 18 after 11 or 12 p.m., this would require additional security but would make it much more enjoyable for everyone. Not enough spots for shore excursions - everything was booked and had to wing-it at Belize. Feel somewhat indifferent about this cruise. This was our 8th cruise and was disappointed to say the least. I think the clientele of Carnival is lower, therefore attributing to the rudeness and inconsideration of fellow cruisers; have cruised with R.C. and Norwegian and NEVER experienced this before (not even on the other 2 Carnival ships we have been on). Wish there was an easy fix for this problem, but know there isn't. :(

Pros: Dinner meals and dinner service in dining room was excellent!

Cons: "Rude" fellow cruisers

Recommends Carnival Dream? No.

Service and Staff
Dining room staff at breakfast was often unpleasant. Had to constantly ask for refills of juice, coffee, water. A.M. dining staff and pool bar staff somewhat sarcastic: i.e., saying "patience" when I went to pool bar to get popcorn and told I would have to wait - I didn't even say anything!
Ship Quality
Comedy club was good set-up for comedians and Karioke; a piano bar and few other random "music" areas; otherwise, only 1 "club" on board, the "Caliente." Played too much music for older cruisers. Twentyish daughter and young married daughter did not have a place to hang-out and dance at night.
Food and Dining
Cabin / Stateroom
Belize City, Belize
Took an independent city tour. Was okay, not a big deal. Lots of shopping if thats what you like. Did not get to take shore excursion we wanted - booked up. However, if you will take appropriate clothing, when you get off the tender, there will be people there selling excursions for a fraction of the price - will be on your own- thats the only draw-back to doing excursions this way.
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
Not much there. Beach area is nice, however it is man-made not natural. Hoped to see natural beach areas.
