Sail Date: December 01, 2009 Ship: Carnival Dream Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Family (older children) Reviewed: 8 years ago
Carnival specializes in family cruises that is why we like them. Too many people on a ship not sized for 4400 guests. Buffet lines did not open until noon so lines were long and with all the kids they were slow. Deck chairs were completely 'reserved' by 7 am despite people not showing up until around 10 - 10:30. Deck Staff said they could not do anythinga bout that even when many guests pointed out rows of chairs that had not been sat in.
Food and Dining

Last night of the cruise, there were no assistant waiters inthe entire dining room so head waiter did it all. Kitchen has major problems. Only two nights did all of the entrees come together. Otherwise, diners eat individually at a group table. Lengthens the meal. No one had 'hot' food -- best we got was mildly warm.Head waiter did seem competent and was ofter frustrated by what was going on.

Service and Staff

Deck chairs reserved by 7 am on sea days. Deck staff would not emove towels even though a line of people asked them to. Resorted to taking chairs from lido dining room and sitting on those on the deck.

Every time someone on your floor on above or below you goes onto the dheir deck or in or out of their room, you WILL hear the door slam. In fact, your bed will quite literally shake. We were on Verandah deck -- rooms good sized but we heard conversations from both adjoining cabins and knew when anyone was on their deck or in the hallway. At 1 in the morning or 6 am these loud door closings are a bit disconcerting.

good size cabins but walls are VERY thin. Dors have no way to soften their slamming! You will know whne anyone goies onto their balcony or into the hallway.
Pros: Big ship- GREAT shows
Cons: Too many people and not sized for that many in the common areas. Cheapened quality of walls both interior and hallway. conversations in next cabin were like they were in the same room
