Review Summary

FIRST TIME CRUISERS :-) Our balcony room was GORGEOUS! Room - 6285 - spacious, clean, nice quiet location, balcony was very enjoyable - perfect view! Our cabin was always clean and towels replenished, bed turned down - our cabin attendent was FANTASTIC! The bartenders are VERY SLOW, and not overly friendly, which is suprising since this has to be a big revenue generator. We purchased a soda card for $36 because we thought it'd be a good investment, but getting one was so slow we more often than not opted for self service water; not sure we would purchase a soda card again based on the lack of availability. This is definately an opportunity area. The buffet food on the Lido Deck was very generic, but the Universe Restaurant serves GREAT FOOD in a sit down, comfortable relaxed atmosphere with an AMAZING STAFF! I would suggest ANYTIME DINING so you are not bound to a specific time due to your daily activities - they say that there may be up to a 20 minute wait, but the people we spoke to never had to wait. Majority of the staff on the ship wasn't overly friendly - but we believe it was attributed to the fact that this was the Destiny's last cruise before it's renovation; it mustve been a stressful time for many of the crew. The shows were good - there were plenty on our 5 day cruise and very enjoyable! They weren't great at keeping on schedule, most of the shows or activities ran over the alotted time causing the next activity to start late. Getting on and off the ship is SEAMLESS - the process is easily understood and clearly explained. The staff was great in regards to providing port information and other processes throughout the ship. Purchasing the Carnival Fun Ship Transfer was well worth the money-the drivers were polite, handled all of our luggage and later that day it was delivered to our room. Finding a lounger on the Lido Deck was ridiculous. People leave their towels and/or personal belongings to hold chairs until they return, yet on the big screen tv it states that towels will be removed after 40 minutes if you do not return to your lounger. We never saw a towel removed after the 40 minutes was exceeded - if you aren't going to enforce a policy, you should not publicize it. Overall it was a wonderful experience - the Carnival Staff projects professionalism and majority of the crew tries to do their best to ensure a happy cruise!
