This cruise would be a good starter cruise but things like overpriced drinks, fewer meal options that other cruise lines and an out-dated ship keeps experienced cruises wanting for more.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was decent. They had the usual lobster on certain nights. Along with steak chicken etc. But... Having been on other cruises, other cruise lines offer much more in terms of food quality, variety and availability (only the pizza bar was open 24hours).
NOTE: cruise lines such as carnival make their money on the alcohol that they sell. Be prepared for 8-10 dollar mixed drinks with very little alcohol. (you can watch the bar tenders pour HALF a shot of alcohol in each drink per management instructions). If you are planning on getting drunk for the whole cruise it will cost you four figures. My wife and I had a few drinks a day, never once felt tipsy and racked up a 400 dollar bar tab. This is fine with us as we know this is their source of revenue, but just be forewarned.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was good all around. The usual cruise ship fan fair: shows, comedy, spa (very expensive), waterside, etc.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
98% of the staff was very friendly and positive. Being that we are all human, the 2% that was pushy, rude etc is a very low number.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was clean overall but the decor was a bit outdated. I personally like the 90's look, but some people may not. The ship is going into a dry dock retrofit soon in which all this will probably be retrofitted. Maintenance wise, you can tell that they are holding off on fixing small things that will be replaced anyways; burnt out neon lights for example.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony room and found it to be enjoyable. It was very clean. Some of the colors are again "last decade", but I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Pros: A lot of fun things for couples to do

Cons: Watered-down overpriced drinks
