Well organized ship, beautiful cruise.

Room Type: Inside

If you get there to check in at the earliest time, check in is a breeze, they have the boarding process pretty well organized. The ship is set up fairly well to suit most anyone. Had some difficulty in getting to the Universe dining room as routes were not easy to find. They did a good job in hiring talented performers. Only one host was a bit obnoxious, Noonan was very good though. They tried to please everyone, which is hard to do when 3,000 people are on board. Check out was also organized well.

Pros: Well trained crew, very patient with rude passengers. The musical performances in the auditorium were very good.

Cons: Pool deck overcrowded during fun days at sea. Some people were reserving deck chairs with towels while they did other activities. Reserving deck chairs was supposed to be prohibited, but was not enforced. Limiting the opportunity for everyone to have a chance to enjoy the pool.

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED)? Yes!

Ship Quality
Our rooms were always prepared in a timely manner and clean.
Food and Dining
Lots of choices, really liked the soft serve ice cream at the pool deck. When you got a bit warm, just cool off with a cone. They even had frozen yogurt for those counting calories.
Cabin / Stateroom
Large enough for two adults to move around OK.
Service and Staff
Very polite, I am sure they put up with a lot. Some fellow passengers seemed very difficult to please.
Children's Programs
They must have had a lot of activities for children, because we rarely saw them roaming or bored.
Entertainment
Entertainment options were usually good, the comedy show was always overcrowded, should move that to a larger area. Didn't really care for some of the trivia shows. They also need to allow more time in between shows to allow passengers to relocate to the next event.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
For your own safety, it is best to book an excursion via the ship. We went to the Bamboo Beach club which was nice. Jamaica is a very poor country and the locals really compete to get you to spend your money with them. Some of our fellow passengers purchased excursions on shore and were scammed. We did not do Dunns River Falls but heard from others that it was also a good excursion. Heard Zip Lining was a rip off, very short, and nothing to really see. Friends went to Dolphin Cove and gave that a thumbs down.
Don't Miss: Dunns River Falls or Bamboo Beach Club.
George Town, Grand Cayman
Grand Cayman was a great port, many great excursions to choose from. Nice shopping areas, clean, and safe. Wish we had more than one day to spend there. Everyone we talked to had a good experience with their excursions.
Don't Miss: Make sure you check out the marine life activities. We snorkeled the Barrier Reef and it was awesome.
