What a great trip!

Room Type: Balcony

This was my first cruise, so I didn't have anything to compare the experience to. However, I was so pleased with the cabin which was well-appointed and had everything you could need at your fingertips. The food was quite good, though the buffet set-up often caused long lines. It would be better if they broke the buffet into smaller stations so people could get one or two items without waiting through the longer line.
The most impressive part of the trip was the entertainment. The shows had a wonderful variety and top-notch performers and costumes. There was absolutely plenty to do and appealed to a varied audience on board.

Pros: The entertainment choices and the food

Cons: The layout of the ship is confusing

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED)? Yes!

Ship Quality
The layout of the ship leads to a lot of confusion because there are many floors that do not connect aft to forward without going up or down a floor and then returning to the original floor. The pool areas are rather small and crowded and some of the bathrooms are looking dated, but they are well cared for and clean.
Food and Dining
We opted for open seating which was great for the days that we left the ship to go ashore. The dining staff was very attentive and the food choices were quite good.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were mid-ship so we were well located for all activities onboard. The bed was very comfortable. The decor is somewhat dated, most notably the TV should be replaced with a flat screen. There was also no clock radio in the room.
Service and Staff
The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our steward was extremely friendly and was anxious to please.
Entertainment
There was a lot to choose from each day. We attended a class on towel folding that was a lot of fun. The skin specialist in the spa also presented a very informative class on skin care--she really individualized the session and was very helpful without "pushing" anyone to purchase anything.
Cozumel, Mexico
The tour of the ruins in Tulum was very interesting.
Don't Miss: Tulum
Key West, Florida
We truly enjoyed the tour of Ernest Hemingway's house. We couldn't resist having a margarita and a slice of Key Lime Pie atJimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and we were not disappointed.
Don't Miss: Hemingway's house
