Fantastic Cruise

Sail Date: January 29, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

The ship itself is a little bit older, but not a major problem. There were a lot of things to do between 8am and 10pm. The lido deck was almost always crowded, but people were friendly.

Pros: All the activities available on board

Cons: the opportunity to do things after 10pm

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED)? Yes!

Ship Quality
The staff was always cleaning and picking up trash.
Food and Dining
Usually the food at the buffet was a little cold and you had to wait in long lines for up to 15 minutes. The formal dining room was fantastic and the waiters were very helpful
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an interior room which wasn't bad if you aren't going to spend a lot of time in there. I would go for one with a window or balcony if you enjoy spending a lot of time in your room
Service and Staff
Our room steward was very accommodating to our schedule and would clean when it was convenient for us, not him. I really enjoyed the towel animals and how everyone who helped us knew our name after meeting us for the first time.
I am not a big drinker and really appreciated all of the trivia games and game shows you could watch. If you like to gamble, drink, or stay up late at night this ship may not be a good fit for you. Most activities were done by 10pm. The younger and single crowd would go to the dance club and casino, but not a very good environment for a married couple or family.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
We went to Bamboo Beach Club. Many of us thought it was a resort with a private beach. Instead it was a dirty secluded beach with too many people. The free drinks were served in 6oz glasses and everything was warm. The food was nothing more than rice and something they said was sausage. It was hot, dirty, and disorganized. The Jamaican staff was also really rude because they thought everyone was really drunk and would be "hard to handle." They were also very rude in asking for tips. They would refuse you service until you guaranteed to give them a certain amount of money. Don't waste your money on this excursion
George Town, Grand Cayman
This is a beautiful island. I would highly recommend the dolphin swim and stingray city excursion. You actually spend 45 minutes in the water with the dolphins. You also get to swim with stingrays in their natural habitat. For anyone who loves animals and nature. This is a can't miss experience!
Don't Miss: dolphin swim and stingray city
