an ok cruise

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

I felt the ship was not as clean as it could of been, our state room door was very hard to lock, the bathroom door was hard to shut, and the tv remote worked only some of the time, the light on our balcony did not work. The waiter staff were not that nice and some were rude. The dinning room staff was very good and house keeping staff was good. The tender to go from the ship to Ocho Rios was very unorginized and a bad experiance all around. Our overall impressions of the Carnival Cruise lines Destiny ship and our cruise were just fair and even the things that we enjoyed the most were just ok and not anything to rave about. I took Carnival Cruise about 4 years ago and that cruise was much much better then this one, the quality of this cruise had definatly declined.

Pros: string ray city in Grand Caymon, dinining room meals

Cons: cleanlyness of the ship, ship food. ship staff,

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED)? No.

Food and Dining
The food in the dinning room was very good most of the time and we enjoyed it. We ate dinner in the dinning room almost every night and felt the staff and food were very good. On the night of the formal dinner we were a little dissapointed in the attire that was aloud to to attend, we noticed people wearing shorts and jeans. The food on the Lido deck buffet was was nothing special and just ok. We are not big eaters and it seemed that the buffet was geared up for massive eating which we understood. The food in the Chinese resturant and the New York Style deli was just of. We did have a hamburger and thought that it was very good. We felt the the desers were just ok also.
Cabin / Stateroom
We felt the state room size was very acceptable and was very comfortable. The cleanliness was somthing definatly that could of been improved on. The location of the stateroom was fine. There were a lot of small things about the room that did not work like door locks and tv remote.
Service and Staff
All in all the ship staff were all good, some of the best were the wait staff in the dinning room and the stateroom staff, some of the worst was the staff on the Lido deck. Some of that staff was acutually rude
Ship Quality
ship size was very good, the cleanliness could of been much better, our cabin and most of the ship was not as clean as it could of been. I felt the decor was lacking, the booth that I sat in at the dining room had a big tear in the cushion.
we felt that most of the entertainment was decent. we enjoyed the outside movie screen.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
we did not like Ocho Rios at all, we did not select an excursion and just wanted to explore on our own, we were very dissapointed by the way we were non stop hounded by the locals to buy their souvenirs, take their tours and taxis and buy drugs. Maybe if would of taken one of the excusions it would of been a better time
George Town, Grand Cayman
We enjoyed the port, we went on the tour to sting ray city and thought it was awsome, we went with captain Brians tour. The only bad part of this port was the unorginized way in which we had to get back on the ship. It was by tender and was a about a 2 hour wait from when we got on line to when we got back on the ship
Don't Miss: sting ray city
