Enjoyed vacation but needs improvement..

Review SummaryI would recommend the ports of this cruise. Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, Nassau Bahamas were amazing!!! The food was good and the ship was nice and clean.
We were disappointed however with Carnivals Customer Service. We have traveled on Carnival many times in the past and by far, we noticed a tremendous difference this time around. First of all, you can definitely see that Carnival is hurting with the Recession! When we first arrived on the ship we went to our cabin to drop off our things and noticed that it was extremely hot in there. I figured the AC must be broken so I called for service. They informed me that now Carnival only turns on the AC when they ship leaves the Miami!!! Holly smokes! Thankfully we didnt have any issues during the cruise with the AC but I thought that was a bit strange.
The next thing that disappointed us a bit was for some reason on the only day we had at sea they didnt open the main pool or the water slide until late in the afternoon. They only have 2 other SMALL pools for over 2,000 people on board. I dont know if there were safety reasons behind it being closed but the pool had water in it with a net on top and the slide worked fine the next few days after.
Finally the biggest thing we were disappointed on what the Customer Service. We have never had any issues in the past with Carnival. But this time around most the staff seemed un-interested, un-happy, mute and cold. We are nice customers, we say please and thank you at all times, we even ask how the employee is doing etc. But with the majority of the staff this cruise, they were either mute or cold. Our dinning Assistant Waiter was extremely rude in particular, handing us our menus and not even acknowledging our existence.
Overall we were only pleased w/ certain waiters or bartenders and by the end of our cruise we would only go to those few nice employees.
The other complaint is that 3 times we noticed activities on the itinerary that the staff never actually did. We showed up for a Free Throw Tournament, Volleyball game and a band playing on the Promenade Deck. Never happened.
Im not sure if Carnival made some cut backs that affected the staff or not but if they did.it definitely show.
We made the best out of the issues though and still enjoyed our vacation. But it definitely made us think twice if we will return to Carnival in the future again.
