Some pluses and some minuses

Room Type: Balcony

This was our sixth cruise, our third on Carnival. While there were some things about the cruise we really liked, there were some really negative parts to this cruise. The food on Carnival has really gone downhill over the last ten years, especially the Lido deck buffet. the lines at the buffet at lunchtime were extremely long at all the stations. We really liked our dining room waitress and our cabin steward. They were attentive and knowledgable and we really appreciated their service. The entertainment was awful and they don't consider he young age of most cruisers on this ship. But the comedian was awesome! We went to both of his shows and loved him. There were very few activities onboard, especially when the ship was at sea.

Pros: Cleanliness, room steward, dining staff

Cons: Buffet line food, onboard activities

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED)? Yes!

Ship Quality
the ship was in rather good shape for its age and was clean and well maintained. It is very difficult to get to the Universe dining room because of the ship's design. You have to go down and then up to reach it.
Food and Dining
the overall food quality gets mixed grades. Breakfast in the dining room was excellent, but there were some bad nights! The best dinner was when lobster tails and prime rib were served.
Service and Staff
Especially our room steward, Rudy.
Entertainment
Shows on most nights were only offered at one time insteadof an early and late choice. There were very few options for entertainment other than going to one of the bars.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a veranda cabin forward on the Lido deck. I loved the location. The cabin was a good size and in very good condition.
