This was our fourth Carnival cruise and my 5th cruise overall. I was extremely dissapointed. We sailed on Destiny 11/19/06 to St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, and Aruba. The ports of call were beautiful. We had a great time in each location but that is where the fun ended. 90% of the passengers on the ship were from Puerto Rico, and thus the cruise was catered to them. Only 1 bar (piano bar) played non-Spanish music. The Lido deck partys were almost all Spanish, and the messages were played over the loud speaker in Spanish first, then English. My grandmother was from Puerto Rico, so please don't feel that this is a racist review. However, Carnival in no way informed us before the cruise that most of the entertainment (including comedians, etc) would be in Spanish. Even Captain's night was in Spanish. In addition to these problems, two of our shore excursions were cancelled due to lack of participation, many other people also mentioned having shore excursions cancelled. The pools and hot tubs were full of children. The adult only area had one closed hot tub, and one hot tub that was cold. A Royal Caribbean Ship had a similiar itinerary during the week and the passengers aboard that ship had nothing but good things to say about their trip.

Pros: Ports of Call

Cons: Totally catering to Spanish speaking guests

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED) 28? No.
